This most unusual and scarce grouping features the original track programs from 11 future Kentucky Derby winners before they ever wore the garland of roses. Original track programs featuring Kentucky Derby winners are considered some of the most collectible pieces of racing memorabilia, and finding programs of these same winners earlier in their racing careers is especially difficult.
This amazing grouping begins with the program of 1943 Wood Memorial winner Count Fleet who would not only go on to win the Kentucky Derby but also the Triple Crown. The collection also contains early winning programs from fellow Triple Crown winners Seattle Slew (1977 Wood Memorial) and Affirmed (1978 Santa Anita Derby). Other notable programs in the offering include early races for Horse of the Year champions Spectacular Bid , Alysheba, and Smarty Jones. While some of the programs are track-used with pencil markings, a few are in absolutely pristine condition, including an extremely rare Gem Mint condition 1960 Remsen Stakes juvenile program for the popular Kentucky Derby winner Carry Back and a 1990 maiden race program for Strike the Gold. Other pre-Derby programs in the collection feature Determine, Jet Pilot, and Tomy Lee.
