This original track-worn leather halter emanates from the sensational filly superstar Swiss Skydiver, who burst upon the racing scene as a 3-year-old in 2020. Among her many victories, Swiss Skydiver's most notable claim to fame was when she took on the boys in the second jewel of the Triple Crown in the Preakness Stakes.
In one of most thrilling battles in the race's storied running, Swiss Skydiver and 2020 Kentucky Derby winner Authentic dueled down the length of the Pimlico stretch before the chestnut filly ultimately prevailed by a neck. The official time for the 1 3/16 mile race was a blazing 1:53.28, second behind only the great Secretariat and his stakes record time of 1:53.00. The Preakness victory vaulted Swiss Skydiver into rarified air as she became only the sixth filly in history to win the prestigious race.
Swiss Skydiver continues to race as a 4-year-old and to date has a record of seven wins, three second-place finishes, and two shows in 15 career starts with total earnings of more than $2 million, with prospects for much more before the racing season ends. A well-traveled road warrior of sorts, Swiss Skydiver's other important victories include the Gulfstream Oaks in Florida, the Fantasy Stakes in Arkansas, the Alabama in New York, and the Beholder Mile in California.
The track-worn leather halter with the brass nameplate was acquired directly from Swiss Skydiver's trainer Ken McPeek while she was stabled at Churchill Downs during the 2020 Triple Crown season and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
