Stunning circa 1908 signed oversized portrait of the legendary Ty Cobb. Instead of a Detroit Tigers uniform, the Georgia Peach is looking spiffy clad in a suit as his youthful (about 20+ years old) gaze is fixed on the camera. Sepia-toned portrait is 11x15", mounted on board and matted to 15.75x20". Toward the bottom of the image, Cobb has signed in black fountain ink, To Ernest (Grack?) In Sincere Friendship, with his signature below. Though he has been accused of having violent and racist tendencies, latter day historians have disputed those early stories and this provides a softer look at the man who would be part of the first-ever Hall of Fame induction class in 1936, with the highest vote total as well. Piece is in EX-NM condition, autograph is on dark background but still legible, grading 6/10. Comes with PSA LOA.
