Magnificent 1991 Pittsburgh Penguins home jersey game worn by Mario Lemieux. After missing 50 games due to back surgery to repair a herniated disk, Super Mario returned in exceptional form, recording 45 points over the final 26 regular season games before earning the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs during the Pens' Stanley Cup Championship run. This terrific all original jersey was worn during that return and is as good as it gets - we give it a perfect 10. Maska Ultrafil tag in collar has "66" written on in marker and size 54 written lightly in pen, white home jersey has skating penguin logo on chest with captain's "C" on left breast in black-on-gold, and number 66 on and back in same style. Numbers on sleeves are black-on-white tackle twill, while name in all black letters is stitched to a plate on back. Amazing use shown with pilling, stick marks, paint transfers and light burns. Photo-matched to a game against the Chicago Black Hawks in April of 1991 and also Mario's 1991 Score hockey card; autographed photo and score card (not autographed) used for match are included in this lot. Lemieux's status among the very top all-time NHLers is secure, and this jersey tells a great story of an important part of that legacy.
