Exquisite circa 1940s Detroit Stars Negro League set is all original with gray flannel jersey, pants and socks. Very rare, all professional quality and in fine condition, button-front jersey has Wilson size 40 tag in collar, Detroit in red felt script across the chest, and number 14 on back, also in red felt. Matching pants have Wilson size 36 tagging, and matching heavy red wool socks are included. Great use displayed with scattered dirt stains, and the white stirrups on the socks have turned pink from color bleeding. Originates from a find of a few of these a around a decade ago in a house in Detroit where the manager of the team once lived; his name was V.L. Wilson and this lot comes with a letter from a picker who found the uniform in the house and also a copy of an envelope and letter also found in the house addressed to "V. L. Wilson, Manager Detroit Stars Baseball Club." As more game used Negro Leagues memorabilia surfaces, the pieces only become more historic and sought-after and this set is of magnificent quality considering its vintage.
