A different type of headgear worn by boxing champion Gene Tunney is up for grabs in this New York American Legion cap. Nicely preserved black felt hat has "Past Commander, Theodore Roosevelt Jr., 1755" embroidered in yellow along with the American Legion logo, leather band, and "Gene Tunney" handwritten inside in black marker. Before winning the American light-heavyweight and world heavyweight titles, he earned his nickname of the "The Fighting Marine" by enlisting in the Corps during World War I.
