Echoes of the Brass Bonanza resound in this classic Hartford Whalers Defenseman of the Year trophy. Kept in the arena or team offices, each player from 1977-97 is recognized for his contributions as the team's top backliiner. Black wood base measures 12x12" and 4" high, atop which sits an enormous silver bowl measuring 8" high and 15" across in diameter. Engraved on the side is "Budweiser Cup, Hartford Whalers Defenseman of the Year," and the piece is in EX condition with some tarnishing that can be cleaned. Each recipient's name and year earned a plate on the base; it looks as though a second level was added to what was the original base, and the wood between the two sections is separated in some areas. Named recipients include such Whale favorites as Joel Quenneville, Ulf Samuelson, Dave Babych, Zarley Zalapsky, and the 1993-94 Rookie of the Year and future Hall of Famer Chris Pronger, among others.
