The extremes of competition are starkly depicted in this 8x10" photo of the immediate aftermath of "The Shot Heard Round the World." On October 3, 1951, the Brooklyn Dodgers held a 4-1 lead over the New York Giants in the 9th inning of the rubber game of a three-game series to determine the National League pennant. The Giants rallied to win on the strength of Bobby Thomson's walkoff home run and he is shown being mobbed by his teammates as he crosses home plate, while pitcher Ralph Branca and Jackie Robinson stand in stunned dejection. Thomson and Branca have added beautiful signatures to this photo, which is perfect for framing. Also includes newspaper clipping of Branca hanging his head in the dugout after the game.
