Circa 1938-43 Mel Ott game used bat from the prime of his Hall of Fame career with the New York Giants, graded A8 by MEARS. Classic Louisville Slugger displays tremendous use with ball marks, deeply-embedded stitch marks, green bat rack paint transfer, cleat marks, and some grain swelling. Also present is unusual scoring of the handle on this 34.75", 33.4 ounce beauty, which includes replica signature stamped on the barrel. Standing at a relatively slight 5-foot-9 and weighing 170 pounds, Ott was still among the top home run threats of his era, leading the National League six times while becoming the first NL player to reach the 500 HR plateau. The popular Giant hit 157 of his 511 career round-trippers in that '38-43 period from which this bat originated; one can only imagine how many came from this very piece of lumber. Comes with MEARS letter including A8 grade; very difficult to find an Ott bat in better condition.
