This attractive heavy laminated board advertising sign promoted Slim Jim Bow Ties and the 1955 Marciano-Cockell Heavyweight Championship fight, and it measures 11x14". It originates from the Rocky Marciano title defense against Don Cockell, a 10-1 underdog who vainly fought the unbeatable champ. Afterward Marciano stated, "He's got a lot of guts. I don't think I ever hit anyone else any more often or harder." The only one known to exist as an advertising sign it has tack holes at the corners but otherwise is in VG condition. Photo used for this is by "National." From the Gus LeDonne collection, legendary football and sports collector who passed away too soon in 2013. A top of the line buyer, Gus bought the best of the best in the early days of our hobby.
