Issued by Wolverine Gum in 1936, "Strange True Stories" is one of the most unconventional non-sport sets ever produced. Cards are devoted to strange and outlandish stories, some real and some fictional, accompanied by fairly gruesome artwork. Card backs advertise that the set contains 260 cards, but unfortunately only the first series of 24 was ever produced. Presented is a partial set of 17 cards, missing only #s 1, 2, 12, 14, 17, 21 and 24 for completion. Although the group is relatively modest in grade, with 2 VG-EX, 7 VG, 6 GD and 2 lesser, it remains very presentable and offers a rare opportunity to obtain a colorful and unusual issue from the 1930s.
