An oddity of Americana, this credit card-style vending card was issued by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to famed convict Whitey Bulger. Captured in 2011 after more than a decade on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list, it bears his given name (James), photograph, ID number and personal attributes. The Irish-American organized crime boss who led the Winter Hill Gang of Massachusetts was found guilty of racketeering as well as 19 murders, while also implicating the FBI in protecting him while he was a fugitive. Obtained from a spurious source, the plastic card measures about 2x3.5" and is in NM condition. The only other known ID sold for more than $11,000 back in 2018.
