Aug. 20, 1920, Ray Chapman funeral program. During a game, Chapman was beaned by Yankees pitcher Carl Mays and died 12 hours later. Chapman's death spurred MLB to ban the spitball, require umpires to replace the ball when it became dirty, and require batters to wear helmets when at bat. He is the only MLB player to die from an injury sustained during play. The program exhibits minor creasing but is in overall Excellent condition.
