Pugilistic power prevails in this one-of-a-kind collection of rare photos of 19th and early-20th Century boxing. More than four dozen photos were likely part of an archive of sorts as some appear to have been removed from mounts. Among the treasures here are portraits (mostly 4x6"), including Jim Corbett, Peter Maher, Frank Gorman (1882), Joe Goss, Gus Lambert, Jim Barry, Mike Sears, Jack Burgess, Gus Gardner (2), Chuck Connors, Dooney Harris (1880), Kid Lane (negro), Billy Papke, Harrry Scroggs (circa 1903), Dick Hollywood, Danny Kelleher, Harry Johnson, Hiram Goldstein, Bill Donn, Jimmy Murray, Doug Sullivan, Jim Judge, Jack Burke (Boston), JD Hayes, Joe Fairburn, Jimmy Barry (Chicago), Tommy Cleary, Joe Hurst, Eddie Burns (Buffalo), Jack Reardon (circa 1905), Jimmy Lawler (champion of Pacific Slope), Jack Kelly, James Watts (negro), George Kerwin "The Mystery", Patsy Hogan, Luke Clark, Jack McGee (Boston), Charley Beland, Bryan McKenna and Fred Morris "Muldoon's Cyclone" (negro), plus about eight early action shots, including: "Burns/Flynn (2), Burns/Hart, Duras/Kelly, O'Brien/Flynn, Flynn/O'Brien and Fitzsimmons/O'Brien. Shots like these are hard to find, and all one type to boot. The portraits have some condition issues, while some have foxing and fading.
