Starting in 1887, Arm & Hammer began producing some of the most beautiful and colorful non sport sets ever conceived – most all of them nature-themed, usually picturing birds, fish and animals. These cards were issued in various years thru 1976, with each set more beautifully composed than the one before. This collection boasts not only a variety of early complete sets, but also an interesting and large collection of related Arm & Hammer ephemera. The entire collection includes: - 1888 ‘Beautiful Flowers’ series near-set of 59 of 60. Cards are over 125 years old and still present with bright colors and in EX or better condition, with only a few lesser; - 1900 ‘Fish Series’ complete set of 30 plus 2nd partial set of 22. Remarkable artwork, all cards EX or better; - 1900 ‘Book of Fishes’, produced to complement the 30-card set. Complete with bright colors; light stains on covers, spine intact but in delicate condition; - 1900 ‘Mother Goose Series’, complete set of 30, VG to EX condition, a few with creases; - 1902 Champion Dog Series, 28 of 30 (J-13), VG to EX condition; - 1910 ‘New Series of Dogs’, 28 of 30 (J-14), VG to EX condition; - 1938 ‘Useful Birds of America’, Ninth Series, complete set of 15, NM or better; - 1938 ‘Useful Birds of America’, Tenth Series, complete set of 15, NM or better; - 400+ cards from various series of ‘Useful Birds of America’, including series J-1, J-2, J-3, J-4, J-6, J-7, J-8, J-9, J-15 and J-17, mostly EX to EX-MT, a few with pinholes. Most cards were produced between 1909 and 1938; - 1975 ‘Birds of Prey’, complete set of 10, artwork by Louis Agassiz Fuertes; - 1981 ‘Birds of Prey - Corporate Series’ prints measuring 11 ¼ x 14 ¼”, including White Gyrfalcon (8), Bald Eagle (18), Snowy Owl (6), Osprey (4) and Peregrine Falcon (7), all in NM or better condition; - set of 24 bird pins, undated, not labeled ‘Arm & Hammer’ but of a similar style; - undated early 20th century boxes of original Arm & Hammer Baking Soda products, including 3 unopened; - a multitude of checks from Church & Dwight Co. dating between 1907 and 1913, to Stewart & Ward of Bellaire, Ohio (17); several Bills of Sale between the same two companies (4); - various small store signs / counter displays advertising Arm & Hammer Baking Soda (8); - Various Arm & Hammer cookbooks, almanacs, ‘Valuable Recipe’ books, ‘Good Things to Eat’, all dating from late 19th to early 20th century. Most items are in EX or better condition; about 50 pieces total, with some duplication. What makes this collection all the more special is that despite their age, many of these items present at a high level! A beautiful collection for the die-hard Arm & Hammer enthusiast!
