A beautiful piece of rare baseball history, this is the first we have encountered. Early version of the World Series trophy awarded to every member of the 1945 Detroit Tigers. This sterling silver trophy was for team scout A.J. Egan, who worked for the organization for over 40 years. He scouted star pitchers Hal Newhouser and Dizzy Dean, who were a big part of the championship team that beat the Chicago Cubs in seven games. Made by the Burr, Patterson and Auld Company, it is engraved with the inscription, "To A.J. Egan, Scout, Detroit Tigers 1945 World Champions, from Detroit Baseball Fans." Comes with a clipping from their brochure. Very limited. Slight tarnishing but EX-MT condition.
