On the first Saturday in May, 1976, Bold Forbes contested the Kentucky Derby. Ridden by Angel Cordero, he led from the start, setting a "blistering pace," and won by half a length from the 2/5 favorite Honest Pleasure. From that memorable race is the saddle that Angel Cordero rode into history on. The ornate and quality made saddle is signed underneath by Cordero as well as his initials "ATC" handwritten three times. Includes a wall hanging display with a plaque that reads, "Bold Forbes 100th Kentucky Derby." Collection also features a vintage piece of masking tape signed by Cordero Jr. and inscribed "Bold Forbes Kentucky Derby 100, 1976" as well a Sports Illustrated showing Cordero Jr. winning the Derby and Cordero Jr. signed "Bold Forbes" photo. Both the saddle and previously mentioned masking tape are certified with full LOAs by JSA.
