Very important collection of (5) letters of correspondence from March 1960 onward from the Boston Patriots to Boston Globe cartoonist Phil Bissel, the creator of the Pat Patriot logo. Bissel created the logo under the direction of Boston Globe sports editor Jerry Nason who pushed Bissel to have a cartoon for the morning edition when the team name was announced in March of 1960. Pat Patriot gets his name from the Irishman in the original cartoon that says "Tis a fione name Pat-riots!" The patriot served as the team logo from 1960 until 1993 when it was changed to the "Flying Patriot" the team uses today.
