It's almost impossible to fathom the Red Sox playing in a ballpark prior to Fenway Park. But, in fact, the franchise's first home was the Huntington Avenue Grounds located where Northeastern University is now. Here's a terrific vintage image of the old ball yard - the first we have seen, in fact - where the first official World Series game was played, and where Cy Young once threw a perfect game. A sizable crowd is pictured exiting the grounds after a meaningful game. It is postmarked 1908, which was the eighth of 11 seasons the Red Sox (originally the Americans) called the field home.
