One of the key pieces of Secretariat "gear". Through our relationship with the Secretariat Foundation (this piece is not from them), we have handled halters, blankets and horseshoes, but we have never seen a whip offered by us or anyone else in the collecting strata. This came from a dear friend of Ms. Tweedy as a royal gift. The Tweedy signature is beautiful and has a great 1970s look and aging as does the whip, which shows marvelous REAL use. Also, based on our research with top experts, it was most likely farm used rather than race used. Autograph reads, " Penny Tweedy - Secretariat - 1973." Would look incredible in a framed display. One of the true iconic pieces of horse racing memorabilia. Comes with PSA LOA.
Originally, this came from a woman whose uncle worked for the Tweedy-Chenery family on Long Island's North Shore. Apparently the uncle lived in a small cottage on the family’s property. The piece will come with a letter from Lelands guaranteeing the authenticity of the whip itself upon request.
