While he enjoyed a solid career as a player, batting .297 over his 13-year stint, Billy Southworth's Hall of Fame credentials were solidified with his 1,044 managerial victories and .597 winning percentage with the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Braves. All of the items in this lot originate from the Billy Southworth personal collection, including some terrific photos that span his career, most are originals with a few later prints from the 1920's to 1960's. Among the best in the collection are an original framed illustration by Frank Reinert dated 1948, Billy's Boston Braves managerial contract which covers the years 1948 thru 1952 and stipulates salary of $50,000 per year - it is signed by Billy, as well as a signed newspaper photo and signed bank check (with red ink spot).
