"Life Membership" card issued to Ralph Kiner by the Association of Professional Ball Players of America (APBPA). The gold metallic card, numbered 1071, features the organization's colorful logo to the left of Klein’s engraved name. The name of the Association's secretary, "Win Clark," appears in the lower left corner. (Clark was a former major league player with Louisville in 1897; he died in 1959.) The Association of Professional Ball Players of America is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1924 to provide financial assistance to professional ballplayers, as well as scouts, umpires, or even clubhouse attendants who are in need. Today, the organization's membership numbers over 11,000. Card measures 2x4 inches.

Fresh to the hobby collection from the family of slugger Chuck Klein. A worthy contemporary of the great sluggers such as Ruth, Gehrig and Foxx, during the late 1920s and early 1930s, his talents were comparable. His credits are staggering: four home runs in one game, 1929 Most Valuable Player Award, one of only six to ever win the Triple Crown (1933), and all this culminating in being inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980. He was also named one of the 100 Greatest Players of All Time by The Sporting News.

NOTE: Most likely issued in the 1950s.
