Intricately detailed down to the cleats on the shoes, this incredibly rare Alfred Jean Foretay statue in spelter dates from 1890-1900. Measuring roughly 15" tall and 15" at its widest point, a trio of wild-haired youths are depicted, with the ball-carrier in the process of being taken down by a pair of opponents. The base - made of the same metal - is approximately 7x5" inches with "FOOT BALL" inscribed on one side. It's worth noting that the players are helmetless and wearing shorts, an indication of the era of the piece. We have not seen another.
