In 1959, to honor one of the greatest ballplayers that ever lived, Fleer produced an 80-card set profiling an American sports icon, Ted Williams. The set describes Ted’s early years, the path he followed to greatness, his heroes (Babe Ruth and Jim Thorpe) as well as his exploits as one of the most avid and accomplished fishermen in America. The cards presented here are in uniformly NM-MT condition, with only a handful with slight factory flaws (centering, extremely minor corner/edge issues). Key card #1 is NM-MT with a perfect obverse image but a light gum stain and minuscule paper wrinkle on the reverse; #68, Ted Signs for 1959 is NM-MT centered 65-35 on the obverse with similar reverse issues to #1. Both, and indeed all the other 78 cards present at the highest level and would be a cornerstone to any great Williams collection. Time to buy the best.
