Art Nouveau graphics are courtesy of the artist Nelson Greene. Greene was the master illustrator known for the fabulous full color covers he did for "Puck," the preeminent political magazine of the early 1900s. Bottom reads, “Designed by Nelson Greene Especially for the United Cigar Stores Company, 1909.” Issued by United Cigar stores for display on tobacconist’s walls. (Interestingly, this was issued the same year as the T206 baseball cards: 1909.) Leyendecker quality artwork features most prominently of all a baseball player carrying his bat. He is joined by a golfer, tennis player, rower, and more. Approximately 22x31.5". Rough condition as shown.
