This official presentation saddlecloth emanates from the connections of 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify, who offered a stunning performance in the Kentucky Derby -- on his way to capturing American racing’s most coveted prize as history's 13th Triple Crown winner. While the memories are fresh for sports fans, the significance of this piece will be outlasting. In his first classic win and fourth lifetime start, Justify broke the "Curse of Apollo," becoming the first horse since 1882 to win the Kentucky Derby without racing as a 2 year old, and he did so running the fastest early fractions of any Derby winner in history. The dual-sided saddlecloth features the orange cotton canvas with black contrast displaying the lucky number 7 Justify carried to victory, as well as the appliqued and stitched logos of Churchill Downs and race sponsor Woodford Reserve. The cloth is one of only a very few that Churchill Downs allowed to be exclusively produced for Justify's partnership of owners: WinStar Farm, China Horse Club, Head of Plains Partners, and Starlight Racing. Measuring 36 x 50", it is identical in every aspect to the race-worn cloth minus the mud from the race! Further importance to this historical piece are the hand-signed autographs adorning it from Justify's legendary jockey Mike Smith and renowned trainer Bob Baffert -- both recognized as Hall of Famers in the sport. Justify earned a Horse of the Year title and retired undefeated after a meteoric six-start career spanning a total of 111 days in 2018. His unprecedented ascent and accomplishments within such a short span of time are unlikely to ever be duplicated in Thoroughbred racing.
