Magnificent Art Deco working timepiece with custom made illustrated dial came from Joe Louis' personal manager Marshall Miles. A pioneering African businessman, Miles stepped in to manage Louis at the end of his career when his former manager Johnny Roxborough went to prison in 1946 (!). Miles remained his confidante and business advisor until Louis' death. Hamilton watch, sports pair of custom boxing gloves illustrated on the dial, done professionally and at the factory.

Case back is engraved with the name "Joseph Louis Barrow," the watch has a certain look to it that makes this something from within the African American Community.  Watchband has been replaced with a handsome brown leather band and is accompanied with a portion of its original.

Comes with a smattering of other memorabilia from Miles via Louis: classic 8x10" Type I, Joe chatting up women in a bar, posed with showgirls, butcher's receipt with his name on it, three consolation letters to "Joe Louis" after losing heavyweight title ("You will always be the champ," reads one), and more. A total of 13 pieces.
