One of the most feared and charismatic boxers of the 20th Century, former Middleweight Champion Jake LaMotta was known for his "bully" style of fighting, which consisted of crowding his opponent and stalking him all over the ring. With an exceptionally strong chin and the ability to roll with punches, LaMotta would take hits in order to inflict damage. On September 12, 1946, Jake LaMotta fought Bob Satterfield at Wrigley Field in Chicago. In the opening rounds of the bout, the fighters fought to a standstill. However, in the fourth round, Satterfield stunned LaMotta with a right hand. In the sixth round, however, LaMotta came roaring back with a furious assault on Satterfield. In the seventh round, the momentum stayed with LaMotta and he knocked out Satterfield. In 1949, LaMotta finally won the World Middleweight Championship against Marcel Cerdan. LaMotta was the subject of the acclaimed 1980 film, "Raging Bull," starring Robert De Niro, and the 2016 film, "The Bronx Bull." On offer here are a stunning pair of The Raging Bull's fight worn trunks from his 1946 bout with Satterfield. They are comprised of purple satin body with a blue satin waistband and leg trim. The outer front waistband features an oversized white manufacturer's label with "Everlast Sporting Goods MFG Co., New York. Trade Mark Reg." in black. The trunks show fine wear, including some toning on the label. LaMotta also used these trunks in training after the Satterfield fight. Letter of provenance from Jake LaMotta's wife Vikki. Letter of authenticity from noted boxing authenticator and historian, Craig Hamilton.
