One of the first science fiction cards sets. "From the Earth to the Moon" was a 1865 novel by Jules Verne that tells the story of three adventurers who attempt to launch themselves from a space gun to visit the moon. Original sleeve reads "Cards for Children" in Spanish. Cards measure 3x4" and have beautiful color illustrations on the front that portray spaceships, and the scientists' preparations for the trip. Card #XXXV exhibits a remarkably prescient resemblance to a modern space capsule floating in the ocean after a return from space. The verso side of each card relates the story with a fairly extensive narrative. Everything on the cards is in Spanish. Impossible to complete. Cards are NM overall. Wonderful vintage visuals.
