"I'm just like any other American man, with two arms, two legs and 4,256 hits." - Pete Rose When it became apparent that Pete Rose had a chance to become the "all-time hit king," Henry Aaron would prove to be Charlie Hustle's "Hillary Step" before summiting Cobb's Mount Everest in 1985. Although the home run will always be the defining element of Bad Henry's career, many forget that he also retired with the number two spot on the all-time hit parade with 3,771. After twenty seasons and ten 200-hit years, Charlie Hustle finally surpassed Aaron with the ball on offer here. The game used ONL (Feeney) ball is inscribed "St. Louis, Phila. Tuesday, June 22, 1982. Hit #3,772, 3rd Inn Double. Pass Hank Aaron All-Time Hit List. John Stuper, Pitcher." An extremely important baseball in the evolution of the hit-record, this is a piece that will only grow in value. Rose artifacts, too, are destined to go north as he is extremely undervalued. The ball originally came from Pete Rose's personal collection and comes with a letter of provenance from the collector who obtained it from him.
