Ainslee's Magazine was a literary magazine that often featured some of the greatest American writers of the 19th and 20th centuries. The magazine published from 1897-1926, and some of their legendary writers included: Stephen Crane, O. Henry (William Sydney Porter), Jack London, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Bret Harte, and Dorothy Parker. This poster is for a monthly issue that includes a story by Allen Sangree called "Training a Football Team." It is touted as featuring "Anecdotes of Heroes and Demigods of Famous Elevens." The poster depicts three turn-of-the-twentieth-century players in action. The players are not wearing any helmets, but it's interesting that one of the players is wearing a combined nose and mouth guard. Poster has some small tears around the edges. Poster is 14.25x20.75". Put on archival board and then onto canvas, it measures 16.5x22.75".
