Great Gretzky game used stick. Many experts have called Hall of Famer Gretzky the greatest player in hockey history. Gretzky, a center, is the highest career scorer in NHL annals, and FOUR TIMES scored OVER 200 POINTS IN A SEASON. His amazing passing and scoring led to winning four Stanley Cups with the Edmonton Oilers. Gretzky was an originator, popularizing a style in which he used the opponents net as a shield, often stationing himself behind the offensive net, in what came to be called "Gretzky's Office," from where he could pass to either side. The final three seasons of Gretzky's 20-year NHL career were with the New York Rangers, and this stick comes from that time span, probably 1998-99, his last season of professional hockey. The stick is for his left-handed shot and is slightly but not excessively curved, probably to facilitate Gretzky passing when he had to go to his backhand. The stick is a Hespeler fibreglass 5500. Substantial evidence of game use. The blade's black tape has partially come loose, and other evidence of use is from scratch marks and some slight paint smears. There is a blue "Jack the Gripper" grip. Gretzky is imprinted on the stick, which also has printing that says "120 125 Stiff."
