Nice early collection of mostly British boxing cards. Also includes some legendary American Champions, such as Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, and Benny Leonard, a great Jewish fighter. Three card displays, each mounted on 11x14" black cardboard by early hobbyist, with hand-painted silver lettering. Rising Boxing Stars, "Boys' Friend," 1922: The set was issued from May 6-August 11, one card with each weekly issue of Boys' Friend. B&W images. Backs have bio. (1.625x2.625"). Complete set of 15: #1 George Cook, #2 Johnny Brown, #3 Johnny Basham, # 4 Charles Penwill, #5 Charles Ledoux (two small creases), #6 Jim Higgins, #7 Seaman James Hall (small scratch), #8 Bugler Lake (creases), # 9 "Soldier" Horace Jones, #10 Arthur Wyns, #11 Tommy Harrison, #12 Dick Smith, #13 Eugene Criqui, #14 Frank Goddard (small crease), #15 Bermondsey Billy Wells. Mostly good condition.
