The brilliant consecutive game record streak of Cal Ripken on September 6, 1995, at 2,131 games is brilliantly commemorated by world-renowned artist LeRoy Nieman, through his colorful impressionistic style serigraph (a print via silkscreen). Nieman traveled the world, specializing in painting athletes and musicians in their natural habitats. Here Nieman shows Ripken in Camden Yards Stadium on the night he broke Lou Gehrig's record streak of 2,130 games. Ripken appears much larger than life as he 'floats" over shortstop. Forever suspended in space with the record that will never be broken, Ripken is throwing a ball that appears almost like an orbiting planet. The record setting "2131" numbers are naturally depicted to either side of "The Iron Man" as part of a sign in left-field and as part of the building wall behind right field.
