Terrific remembrance of Derek Jeter's 2,000th hit, only the eighth Yankee at that time to reach this milestone. This home plate was used in the New York Yankees versus Kansas City Royals game at Yankee Stadium on May 26, 2006. In that game, Jeter reached his 2,000th hit in the fourth inning when he beat out a roller in front of home plate and advanced to second on an error when Royals' catcher Paul Bako threw the ball away. After twice tipping his cap to the crowd, Jeter showed he was still very much in game mode when he surprised the Royals by stealing third base on the next pitch. Then Jeter scored the Yankees' first run on a single by A-Rod. The Yankees lost the game, 7-6. Signed by Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, both in felt tipped marker. Jeter boldly signed, "Derek Jeter 2000 Hit" and Rodriguez boldly signed, "Alex Rodriguez." The Rodriguez signature is somewhat faded, but still clearly legible. The "5-26-06" MLB hologram fell off because of non-adhesive surface. Plate measures 17" wide, plus black area and 16.5 at point, plus black area. Great game use. In Excellent condition.
