Nice find, with two key signatures. Gabby Hartnett, Donnie Bush and 19 other Indianapolis Indians autographs on an official American Association baseball in Ex condition. The signatures average 7/10. Many of baseball's younger players were in military service in 1942, and so the two important signatures on this ball belong to the Indians player/manager, Hartnett and the co-owner, Donie Bush. Prior to Johnny Bench, Hall of Famer Hartnett was considered the top National League catcher in history, hitting .297 lifetime. His most famous moment was "The homer in the gloamin'", when, with one week left in the 1938 season and darkness descending on Wrigley Field, not yet with lights, Hartnett hit a two-out home run to win the game and put the Cubs into first place, on their way to the pennant. Donie Bush was born and raised in Indianapolis and played for them early in his career. Known in his hometown as "Mister Baseball", Bush was an outstanding defensive shortstop, mostly for the Detroit Tigers, and managed in the majors and at Indianapolis. Signatures on the ball are: Gabby Hartnett, Wayne Blackburn, Donie Bush, Francis Hickey, Al Schenslaw, Jack "Johnny" McCarthy, Joe Bestudik, Clyde "Rabbit"McDowell, George Gill, Earl Reid, Chief Hogsett, William "Bill" Skelley, Steve Rachunok, Bob Seeds, Jo-Jo Moore, Ray Poat, Frankie Staucet, Otto Huber, Fred Falzone, Johnny Hutchings, and Walt "Wally" Tauscher.
