Full ticket. Horrendous 19-12 loss. We have never seen a full ticket of this before, because it appeared at the time to be a nothing game at Giants Stadium, so on Nov. 19th. when the Giants lost, practically no one saved the ticket, especially Giants fans. To Giants fans, this debacle is forever known as "The Fumble." The Giants were 5-6, with playoff hopes. The rival Eagles, were 6-5. Seconds remained, the Giants, with a 5-point lead, merely had to run out the clock. The intriguing story behind the story? In the previous play, the Giants players had indicated they wouldn't be blocking the Eagles, as quarterback Joe Pisarcik would just fall down. Per unwritten "code," the Eagles then wouldn't challenge, to mutually prevent injury. But on the snap, the Eagles slammed into Pisarcik. The Giants, fearful of injury to Piscarcik, called a hand-off to fullback Larry Csonka. Csonka hated the call, and told Piscarcik he wouldn't take the hand-off. Piscarcik didn't hear Csonka, the attempted hand-off became a fumble, Eagles Herm Edwards picked up the ball and ran 26 yards for the game-winning touchdown. The Eagles eventually made the playoffs, the moribund Giants didn't, and for a subsequent game, fans hired a plane to fly over Giants Stadium with a banner stating, "Fifteen years of lousy football - we've had enough!" The Giants, who hadn't made the play-offs since 1963, had reached bottom. This ticket marks that point.
