On December 26, 1908 Jack Johnson made his mark on history by defeating Tommy Burns and becoming the first African-American Heavyweight Champion. Shortly after, this promotional poster was made to celebrate his momentous and historic achievement. The poster features images of Johnson in his boxing pose, the house he was born in and even an image of him driving his automobile, a tremendous luxury at the time. Framed 16 x 20" overall, this poster does have some paper loss, a few tape repairs and a slight stain but still presents well for being well over 100 years old.
