In 1936, La Salle Hats, a hat company from Philadelphia, issued a set of eight cards depicting past and present lightweight champions. Not catalogued in the ACC, which is an indicator of the scarcity of this regional issue, the sets were issued in a paper envelope as a promotional item to be handed to customers in stores. Each card is 2.75"x 4.25". This complete set includes an original envelope graded SGC Authentic, and breaks down as follows: 1) Tony Canzoneri, one of the rare fighters who held titles in three divisions (84, NM, 7). 2) Joe Gans, the first African-American World champ in the 20th. Century (88, NM/MT, 8). 3) Kid Lavigne (84, NM, 7). 4) Lou Ambers (80,EX/NM, 5). Rocky Kansas (80, EX/NM, 6). Sammy Mandall (88, NM, 8). 7) Frank Erne (84, NM, 7). 8) Ad Wolgast (86, NM+, 7.5).
