Founded in 1936, the American Hockey League serves primary as a developmental league for the NHL. On offer here is a Rochester Americans jersey won by Heikki Leime during the 1980’s. Leime was also a member of the team’s 1982-83 championship squad. Comprised of white mesh, the “Americans” team crest is sewn on the chest in diecut red/white/blue white mesh fabric with “5” screened on the verso and sleeves in blue/red. The v-neck collar is trimmed in blue and red/blue striping adorns the sleeves and waist. The jersey has a “Champion 46” tag and exhibits fabulous wear with board burns, paint transfers, stick marks, small rips, and blood from the rough and tumble action of the AHL. The remnants of the nameplate are still visible but the rest of the jersey is completely original.
