Alex Pompez was an executive in Negro Baseball who owned the Cuban Stars as well as the New York Cubans between the years 1916 to 1950. Aside from baseball and illegal gambling, he also owned and operated a cigar shop in Manhattan. He eventually served as a scout and director of international scouting for the Giants. He was posthumously inducted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame in 2006. This interesting letter to Babe Herman is two pages with writing on both sides. In the letter Pompez discusses how he still loves baseball, even at his old age. He also recalls his younger days as a manager how he "loved to help young boys that were struggling."
