Ball plays a stuck-up but popular Broadway star who joins the World War II home front effort as a welder in a shipyard. There she meets a fellow welder, played by Dick Powell, and (What else?) falls in love. But this costume is not Ball's welder's togs, but instead a fancier wardrobe, in dress-up mode.
