An exceptional metal-and-glass inkwell, this was presented to copper magnate William H. Clark, who founded Yonkers Raceway in 1899. This presentation piece pre-dates and is engraved on horseshoe “W.H. Clark 1st Jan 1897.” It was presented to him on New Year’s Day, and he passed away just three years later catapulting his valuable estate into confusion among his spirited heirs. Hence, this inkwell made its way to the UK and back. Gorgeous glass and plated brass on marble base, in EX-MT condition.
