Titled by the artist, "Starr to Dowler", this depicts the transcendent moment when Boyd Dowler caught a 62-yard touchdown from Green Bay Packer legend Bart Starr to set the stage for their Super Bowl II victory versus the Al Davis Oakland Raiders. Another notch in the belt of Vince Lombardi and the Packers, this further assured their place in history. Published in the program for Super Bowl IX, the NFL was doing a retrospective on past Super Bowls at the height of the nostalgia craze. Signed watercolor on canvas board is by supreme illustrator Daniel Schwartz. Measures 18x24" and worthy of Packerdom. Daniel Schwartz is an award-winning illustrator who has worked for such top periodicals as Esquire, Fortune and Playboy. His works are in the collections of Leonard Bernstein, William Styron, Gay Talese, William Paley and Daniel Selznick. A sculptor as well, he was commissioned by the NFL in 1968 to create the bronze that became the Walter Payton NFL "Man of the Year"Award.
