Near the end of the 1926 season, Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker were permitted by American League President Ban Johnson to resign from baseball after former pitcher Dutch Leonard had charged both with betting on a regular season game just before the infamous 1919 World Series. Supposedly threats of a bigger better scandal being revealed caused Commissioner Landis to remove the unofficial ban.That winter, apparently as more than a coincidence, within a span of eight days,  Speaker was released by the Cleveland Indians, and immediately signed as a free agent with the Washington Senators and Cobb was reassigned from his Detroit Tigers to the Philadelphia Athletics. Shows a younger Cobb and Speaker in earlier years. Ironically foreshadows their later betting involvement.
