How often do you see a baseball with Frank Chance on it? Let alone joined by Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and Walter Johnson. Event ball dates from the early 1920s and represents a team of American League barnstormers. There are about 22+ signatures: Frank Chance, Babe Ruth, Walter Johnson, Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Goose Goslin, Harry Heilmann, Bucky Harris, Everett Scott, Joe Dugan, Aaron Ward, Wally Schang, Bob Meusel, Stanley Coveleski, Lou Guisto, Lu Blue, Ken Williams, Marty McManus, Muddy Ruel, Ed Gharrity, Joe Judge, Roger Peckinpaugh and a few that we cannot quite make out. Signed on an Official American League E.S. Barnard baseball, dating it to the period of 1918-1924. There are lovely looking signatures throughout all of the panels in that great looking old ink. Actually, we have narrowed the years to between 1921-23 as Chance managed the Red Sox in 1923. Among the best looking of the signatures are Chance, Ruth and Johnson each rating a 7/10, with the Babe Ruth the early signature in quotes. Overall the signatures rate 6/10 while the ball is EX. This is unlike any signed baseball we have seen all the years we have been doing this. Further research should spell out the team and the event, which could increase the value exponentially.
