Monster of a game used bat was hammered by the Thor of major league baseball: Ted Kluszewski. This cult figure with the massive forearms swung this devastator measuring a full three feet in length and weighing in at over 39 ounces. Ted Kluszewski signature model shows heavy and effective use with some grain separation on the barrel. Hillerich & Bradsby model U1 has small mounting holes on the knob and barrel ends as this was a trophy for someone perhaps Big Klu himself but we have no evidence that proves that. But someone did keep it and cherish it and rightly so. Best of all this beauty has a VERY RARE fiberglass wrapped handle for Klu to get a better grip. That takes this out of the pedestrian category of bats and brings it to the level of rare and unique styles effected by early bat technology. From the collection of legendary, longtime Cincinnati Reds equipment man Bernie Stowe.
Bernie Stowe was with the Cincinnati Reds for an unbelievable 67 consecutive years. As head equipment manager, he worked every Reds game until his retirement in 2013. As a beloved member of the Cincinnati Reds, many of the players would give him mementos and over the years, he received and saved many. This unique piece of Reds memorabilia is from his personal collection and is being offered for the first time.
