This framed candid portrait of Secretariat comes from the personal collection of his owner Penny Chenery, affectionately known as the "First Lady of Racing."

There is not much we can tell you about this framed image except:

It is not from a famous race or any documented racing accomplishment. It contains no signatures or autographs from any member of the famed Meadow team. Nor was it ever featured in a museum exhibition or particularly praised for its artistic merit.

What we can tell you is that it was a very special to Ms. Chenery and hung in a prominent location in her personal residence until her death last year at 95.

We also know that Ms. Chenery loved this particular image because it captured Secretariat unkempt and caked in mud, simply being a horse. She often said it was these memories of the quiet and private moments with her colt, away from the roaring crowds and outside all the accolades and awards, that she held dearest to her heart. Accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity as part of the Penny Chenery/Meadow Stable Archives.

Enjoy this rare opportunity to own this lovely piece representing  the magical bond between an exceptional woman and her incredible horse.

Size with frame is 12.5x15"
