Dated June 2, 1904, this photograph was taken early in Benders career while with the Philadelphia A's. Bender is handsomely dressed and appears to look more like a fashion model than the world famous pitcher he was to become. This is a very interesting crossover piece combining Native American history, Early Baseball and Victorian photography. Believed to be hand written on the back is "Char A Bender", "Chippewa Tribe", "6/2/04" and "6-2-1904". 8.75" x 5". Some corner wear.
