Originally from the family of the only baseball player truly to fully transcend his sport. Magnificent watch in sleek design was presented to Jack Roosevelt Robinson as a member of the 1951 LOOK Magazine All-Star team. Verso of the case is engraved, "JACKIE ROBINSON LOOK ALL AMERICAN 1951" with incised "14k gold" mark. This was Jackie's main watch that he wore for many years despite the condition, which is like new. The watch keeps perfect time and even has the original metal band. By the International Watch Company, the face is in beautiful condition and reads, "Schaffhausen" across it. Most importantly, the watch comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Jackie Robinson's wife and life partner Rachel Robinson, one of the most important social leaders in her own right. It reads: "To: Joshua Leland Evans Chairman Lelands Auctions. This letter regards the provenance and authenticity of my husband Jackie Robinson's 1951 Look Magazine All American Watch. He received this for his play with the Brooklyn Dodgers. It is 14K gold and engraved with his name on the back of the case. It has been in the Robinson family home since the day Jack took it off his wrist. It is 100% authentic. (signed) Rachel Robinson. Leland's has had a relationship with the Robinson Family since the late 1980s and the watch came directly from Rachel Robinson and has never been previously offered, publicly or privately.
